California Proposition 65 (PROP 65)

※ What is Proposition 65?
Proposition 65 requests businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. It aims at protecting drinking water sources from toxic substances.

Proposition 65 had become law in November 1986. Proposition 65 is the abbreviation of the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986.

※What does Proposition 65 require?
It requires the California Government to publish a list of chemicals that are known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. This list, which keeps updating at least once a year, includes about 900 chemicals since it was first published in 1987. It requires the manufacturers to provide a clean and reasonable warning in order to prevent consumers from exposing to any listed chemical. This warning can be shown in a variety of ways. For example, labels the products post signs at the workplace, or publish notices in the newspaper, or on the website.

※What about other states?
Neither the other 49 states nor the Unites States federal government has followed California’s step. Similar legislation has been introduced in other states but has not been enacted.

※What does this mean about Aquasky's Products?
Aquasky devotes itself to make great quality products that are safe and reliable. All of Aquasky’s water expansion tanks are certified NSF 61 by IAPMO as complying with the standard established for minimum health effects requirements for the chemical contaminants and impurities that are directly imparted to drinking water from such Aquasky products.

※What does a Proposition 65 Warning mean?
It means that the manufacturer issuing the warning believes that one or more listed chemicals are present in its product, even if it is only present in trace quantities. Aquasky has chosen to label all of its products available in North America. We use language approved by the State of California as follows:
Warning
This product can expose you to chemicals including Benzo[j]fluoranthene, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.

※What kinds of chemicals and materials are on the list?
The list has a wide range of chemicals and materials, including many metals and plastics, dyes, solvents, pesticides, drugs, food additives, and byproducts of certain processes. These chemicals may be naturally occurring, or synthetic. Some of them are ingredients of common household products. Others are specialty chemicals used in common industrial applications.
