2022 European & American heat waves

From June to August 2022, persistent heat waves have affected parts of Europe, causing wildfires, evacuations, and heat-related deaths. In June, temperatures of 40–43 °C (104–109 °F) were recorded in parts of Europe, with most severe temperature anomalies in France, where several records were broken. A second heat wave occurred in mid-July, extending north to the United Kingdom, where temperatures surpassing 40 °C (104 °F) were recorded for the first time. The highest temperature recorded was 47.0 °C (116.6 °F) in Pinhão, Portugal in July. Nearly 12,000 people died from heat stroke or other means, making it the deadliest natural event since the 2011 East Africa drought, and the deadliest heat wave since the 2010 Russian heat wave.

In the U.S. , Seattle set a record for its longest-streak of days with highs of 90°F or greater. In Portland, there were a record seven straight days with highs of 95°F or greater in a city where the average high temperature in late July is in the low 80s.

A heat wave is simply a period of unusually hot weather that typically lasts two or more days. The temperatures have to be outside the historical averages for a given area. A couple of 95 degree summer days in Maine, for example, might be considered a heat wave, but a couple of 95 degree summer days in Death Valley would be pretty unremarkable.

A heatwave is an extended period of hot weather relative to the expected conditions of the area at that time of year, which may be accompanied by high humidity.

Disastrous heat waves are becoming increasingly more common with global warming - killing people, damaging infrastructure and straining energy supplies. A growing body of research shows that extreme heat has long-lasting effects not just on population health but on local economies.

Little though we can do, we still should go to great lengths to minimize the consumption of energy and use cleaner alternative resources more, make more use of public transportation, and plant trees or make forests. In the final analysis, as long as everyone does their bit, environmental conservation is likely to be achieved.

Everyone has a responsibility to reduce their individual carbon footprint.

Climate change causes excessive temperature differences. All AQUASKY tanks are pre-charged with Nitrogen, due to its stability and larger molecular size, has better resistance to air permeation and less pressure variance from the temperature difference.
