Simple principle of water pump|Aquasky

Pump broadly refers to any construction machinery that can be pressurized on liquid or gas for transportation. From the general water supply and drinking water system to the pressurization system of the factory. Buildings such as residential, industrial, and commercial buildings cannot do without the help of pumps.

The working principle of the pump is very simple. The pump uses a motor and electricity to pressurize gas or liquid to generate a potential energy difference (such as sending water to the top floor water tower, from point a to point b), and to be transported to further destinations.

The basic structure of the pump is inseparable from the following main structures:

Impeller: the part of the pump that actually works on the liquid to increase the speed and pressure

Pump housing: Designed to concentrate the liquid and appropriately convert the speed to static pressure

Motor: Convert electrical energy into mechanical energy

Mandrel: used to connect the motor and the pump impeller

Mechanical shaft seal: prevent the fluid in the pump housing from leaking from the motor shaft

Bearing: to ensure the smooth running of the motor shaft

Pumps are most often used to transport water for people's livelihoods. Not only do the water companies first use pumps to pump water to high water storage locations. Many buildings also use pumps to pump daily water to the water tower on the top floor for storage and then supply it to the residents downstairs when needed. If the floor is too high and the water pressure is too low, it will also be necessary to install a booster pump on the top floor to maintain the water pressure.

In addition, pumps are often used in industry to transport various gases, oils, liquid metals, acid and alkali liquids, and other liquids. They are also important machinery used in the chemical industry to adjust the temperature and reach the chemical reaction pressure. In addition, agricultural irrigation, fish farming, petroleum industry (drilling oil wells), mining (drainage), ships, etc. also rely heavily on the use of pumps. Pumps are often seen in light industries such as food processing.

To purchase a pump, you must first understand the three parameters and choose according to your own usage, before you can install the pump correctly. The three important values are head, horsepower, and water volume. Of course, other considerations may include resistance loss, liquid vortex loss, and water level drop. I won’t go into details here.
